The WEX Foundation and its LCATS program were proud to participate in DreamWeek San Antonio 2024, a city-wide initiative dedicated to fostering dialogue, innovation, and community engagement across San Antonio. Hosted annually in alignment with the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., DreamWeek brings together organizations, educators, and leaders through a multi-week series of events focused on civil and civic exchange, diversity, and the collective advancement of society.
As part of the 2024 programming, WEX joined a community showcase at Port San Antonio, highlighting the impact of regional education initiatives supported by the Kelly Heritage Foundation. The event brought together students, families, and industry partners to demonstrate how local programs are preparing the next generation for careers in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM).
LCATS students represented WEX by sharing their work in space-focused engineering and research, including lunar mission design concepts, sensor technologies, and high-altitude balloon experiments. Through direct engagement with the public, students communicated complex technical ideas in accessible ways—demonstrating both technical growth and the ability to connect their work to real-world challenges and future space exploration efforts.
Participation in DreamWeek reinforces WEX’s commitment to connecting education with community impact. The event provided a platform for LCATS students to engage beyond the classroom, contributing to broader conversations about innovation, opportunity, and the role of emerging talent in shaping the future.
By participating in initiatives like DreamWeek, WEX continues to position students not only as learners but as active contributors to the evolving aerospace and STEM landscape in San Antonio and beyond.
