Space Club
Through the NASA partnership, the New Worlds Await You program offers schools and informal education organizations access to Space Club Launchpad curriculum — free of charge!
Space Club began in San Antonio, Texas and is now available nationwide! Space Club is an afterschool, or in-school, STEM program that inspires youth with hands-on engineering design and space exploration activities. From launching rockets to designing colonies on Mars, over 1,500 students across the nation have participated.
Launch a Space Club program at your school or informal education program. Bring real-world engineering projects that inspire and prepare students for STEM pathways. Students will learn from NASA professionals, complete engineering challenges, and connect with students across the country!

Start a Space Club
Any school or educational organization across the nation can contact Communities in School San Antonio to start a Space Club, receive teacher training and apply for a materials grant if needed.

Launchpad Curriculum
This beginner program builds students’ confidence and interest in STEM along with foundational skills to successfully launch youth towards more rigorous STEM programming. The Launchpad curriculum builds a foundation of STEM skills and includes team building activities and engineering design challenges such as rocketry, drag devices, and robotics. As a culminating project, students form teams and compete nationally in a semester-long STEM project to research and design a space city.
Through project-based standards-aligned STEM activities, middle school students are transformed into a team of astronauts challenged to complete 10 missions centered around a journey to a space destination: The Moon, Mars, or an Orbital Space Station. Student teams work through engineering design challenges, apply science concepts, develop 21st-century learning skills, and learn STEM career and real-world connections.
